Wiggle Wiggle and Toot Toot
On the beautiful banks of Kew Gardens, we enter the animal world. The audience become rabbits with paws on their ears, wiggling noses and singing together ‘whispering willows’. No need to worry about your tiny tots shouting, screaming or jumping around – the cast of this energetic performance entertain, involve and keep the kids busy.
Entering off the water, Ratty introduces himself straight from his river boat. Surrounded by the beautiful setting of Kew Gardens, this magical tale comes with a charming scene. Bring a picnic blanket, a selection of snacks and a pair of sunglasses (or a brolly depending on the weather) for this delightful tale. The story is split into two locations; Head Chief Rabbit (Zachary Cooke) is like the pied piper with dozens of children hopping, running and sneaking behind him to find Toad Hall.
Old Badger (Chris Killik) is a marvellous mix of grumpus and grandeur, offering his wisdom with comedy snuck in for all ages. Otter (Joe Gale) and Portly are a sweet duo, as father and daughter chase each other around the Wild Wood. The entire cast play instruments, sing and act. Head Chief Rabbit and Weasel (Tamlyn Henderson) play a variety of well known hits with an animal twist for the parents whilst the children are off on an adventure to find Portly, the little otter.
Toad of Toad Hall is as fabulous as the book dictates, Toot-Tooting his way through the gardens on his motor car, a thrilling and fun visual. He loves, loves, loves himself and the audience love him too. Pucker red lips and a warty toad face, Oliver Bryng brings Toad to life with an array of facial expressions and bounds of playful energy.
This production of The Wind in the Willows holds a magic and charisma other current performances are lacking. Fast paced and wildly entertaining, there isn’t a dull moment.
